I Could Go On And On About Homestead Roofing In Colorado Springs
Warning! This review will be long, but if you are in need of a roofing company - this will be well worth your time.
Perhaps you have heard the cowboy logic, "never ask a barber if you need a haircut." Likewise, what usually happens when you ask a roofer if you need a new roof?
However, every now and then we stumble upon a person or company that operates with the core value of ethical business practice. I stumbled upon such a person & company.
Some time ago, I needed to have my roof evaluated for potential hail damage. Other properties in my area had damage. I would have bet anyone that a report from a roofer would come back that I needed a new roof. Why? It goes back to the logic of, "never ask a barber if you need a haircut." Tracy Bookman, of Homestead Roofing, reported back to us that we didn't need the proverbial "haircut."
What??
Then, most recently, having survived the High Chateau fire of July, 2018, we decided to protect our cabin in the wooded mountains of Teller county with a standing seam, class 4 impact resistant metal roof. All along the way, Tracy kept attempting to save me money by explaining the benefits of certain less-expensive, but solid quality options. He was meticulous and thorough with each detail of the process. He constantly was in communication with us and always stayed one step ahead. His leadership team, to include Shawn and Jeff, led by example. They are in the office at the helm, but they are also in the field overseeing projects. The foreman on our project, Juan, must suffer from OCD because if it was not absolutely perfect, he would rebel. His attention to detail was welcomed by us with open arms.
The truth is I could go on and on about Homestead Roofing and Tracy Bookman (the clergy suffer from this vocational hazard and I will if you want more)! It would be a pleasure to share my experience of stumbling upon this ethical and amazing company.

Dear Mr. Bookman: We just concluded our first roofing job together on Dutchess Drive, and will be closing in a few days. Many are quick to criticize when things do not go as expected, so it is only right that praise is given when earned. As a long-time area REALTOR® and a general contractor, I have worked with a number of good firms over the years, and wanted to say how nice it was to work with you. Your method of providing a video inspection of the roof was very useful, as my client lives out of state. He appreciated being able to see the issues. Your providing education on the insurance and roofing process was great, as was the fact that you coordinated everything directly with the insurance company to minimize the effort required of the client and me. I am usually pretty picky when I inspect a completed job. In this case, I brought my magnet when I checked the job, but did not pick up any nails or roofing material scraps; that is highly unusual. The guys did an excellent job of cleaning up. Beyond good education, coordination and a job well done, what I found best was your communication. If you were going to be delayed, you communicated that in advance. As you went along, I would get an email letting me know the status. When you were done there was a message to go check the job. I always knew where you were with the insurance company due to your emails. As a home builder, I love that level of communication, and a lot of subcontractors simply don’t provide that (you have to bug them to find out what’s happening). And then the bomb cyclone hit. We weren't too concerned but had Tracy check anyway and everything was fine, just as expected. Tracy is great about communicating any delays or reschedules, especially considering how busy everyone was this past year. We would definitely recommend them.

Steve worked with my insurance company and was able to meet the adjuster at my house with only 20 minutes notice. On top of being great to work with, he was able to replace my roof before my closing date (in spite of less than ideal weather conditions) and did a great job! They were accommodating, efficient, and a great team to work with.

In the second case, Tanner Johnson of Homestead Roofing was a tremendous help in processing a warranty claim for defective shingles. After recently buying an older home I discovered I had pretty significant roof problems.My insurance agent recommended Homestead. I called and talked to Tanner and he came in a timely manner and checked it out and gave me a bid. Tanner was very professional and easy to deal with. I was pleasantly surprised to have the crew arrived sooner than I even expected. The work was completed in less than 2 days and looks to be a very professional job. I was also impressed with job clean up. My home insurance did not cover my problem, but I feel got a good job for a reasonable price. I would definitely recommend Homestead to anyone!

This roofing job was for a rental in Colorado that we were selling. We live in California and could not go to where the house is, so everything had to be done via phone and email. The insurance adjuster had a lower price than the quote from Homestead Roofing, so I figured I was in for a lot of hassle between the two. But Homestead assured me they would handle negotiations with the insurance company and I would not have to pay more than my $1,000 deductible. They kept that promise. Their estimate was far more detailed than the insurance company and Homestead convinced the insurance company to agree to it. They did all the work and took their payment out of escrow. I could not be more pleased with my experience with them. They definitely rate a solid 5 stars in my opinion.

One thing that they caught and fixed was, the previous roofer shingled over a roof vent hole. They found it, fixed it and installed the vent like it should be.
Tanner has come by a couple of times to check on the quality and every time brings out a magnet to check for nails.
I would HIGHLY recommend Homestead Roofing.

Tracy Bookman of Homestead Roofing was one of three roofing contractors I contacted to replace a hail damaged roof. He provided me with a detailed estimate of the repairs required and stated in the estimate that he would match the estimated costs the insurance company would be willing to pay. His estimate matched the insurance estimate almost exactly. In addition, his estimate stated he would provide a better shingle than the insurance estimate covered. He installed a Class 4 Impact Resistant shingle on all roofs for the same cost the other bidders wanted for a standard shingle. The other bidders wanted over $1000.00 extra to install class 4 shingles. The crew used to perform the work were punctual and polite when interacting with either myself or my wife. They completed the work and did a thorough job of cleaning up when the work was done. Tracy and his team were very professional and did an outstanding job. I called Tracy for a roof inspection as we were getting conflicting reports and are selling the home. Tracy came out and spent almost an hour on the roof inspecting and taking a digital video of the roof. He identified some minor areas needing repair and explained that the minor damage I saw was due to blistering not hail damage. Tracy quoted me a very fair price and had a crew at my house within days. I feel much more confident about the roof condition for selling the home. Plus, the video is available should there be any questions from a potential buyer. Tracy’s prompt response, quick service and follow up are refreshing. I would definitely call him for other repairs in the future.

Other contractors leave roofing nails / other items that I would find for years after. Homestead did a much better job cleaning up. (Their) presentation before beginning work was also excellent – we were able to select some shingle options to ensure a good look on our house. We had several bids, and Homestead was close to the lowest cost – but their approach and proposal definitely looked the most professional and complete. We would definitely use them again if we ever need to.
